This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit, Angel Jibreel - peace be upon him, brought it down. 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him, warn your closest relatives. 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
