The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
