He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
