The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
