The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
