When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds' 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
