And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 What though they would say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
