It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 Moreover, there are two scribes, one each sitting on the right and the left, recording everything. 17 each word he utters shall be noted down by a vigilant guardian. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" 19 And the Trumpet shall be blown; that is the Day of the Threat. 20 And every human being will come forward with [his erstwhile] inner urges and [his] conscious mind, 21 (And the driver will say:) "You were oblivious of this, so we have removed the veil, and how keen is your sight today!" 22 And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!" 23 [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever, 24 "Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 Who set up with Allah another god. So cast him ye twain into the torment severe. 26 ۞ His companion will say: Our Lord! I did not lead him into inordinacy but he himself was in a great error. 27 He will say: Do not quarrel in My presence, and indeed I gave you the threatening beforehand: 28 There is no changing of My word, nor am I unjust to My creatures." 29
