The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
