The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
