The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
