Al-A 'araaf 10 of 24
And to (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you. Lo! this is the camel of Allah, a token unto you; so let her feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you. 73 Recall (the time) when We settled you in the land as the heirs of the tribe of Ad and how you established mansions in the plains and carved homes out of the mountains. Give thanks to God for His favors and do not commit evil in the land." 74 The proud ones among Salih's people asked his oppressed followers, "Do you (really) know that Salih is a Messenger of his Lord?" They replied, "We have faith in the Message which he preaches". 75 The proud oppressors said, "We reject that which you believe in". 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel, and insolently defied the commandment of their Lord, saying, "O Salih! Bring upon us what you threaten us with if you are indeed a messenger." 77 So the earthquake overwhelmed them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling places. 78 He turned away from them saying, "My people, I preached the Message of my Lord to you and gave you good advice, but you do not love advisors." 79 We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? 80 You approach men lustfully instead of women. Truly, you are a nation who exceed (in sin)' 81 And the answer of his people was only that they said: "Drive them out of your town, these are indeed men who want to be pure (from sins)!" 82 Then We saved him and his family, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind (in the torment). 83 And We rained down upon them a rain; so behold thou, how was the end of the sinners! 84

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
