The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
