The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
