The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
