Nay, by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the guilty: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
