The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
