The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
