A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
