The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
