The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
