And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, "Do you see these - the idols whom you worship?" 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
