Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
