a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
