The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
