He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
