The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
