And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
