Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
