The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
