The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
