We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
