Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
