The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
