And remember Our servant Job: when he cried to his Lord: “Behold, Satan has afflicted me with much hardship and suffering.” 41 [and thereupon was told:] "Strike [the ground] with thy foot: here is cool water to wash with and to drink!" 42 And We granted to him his family and also the like of them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to people of understanding, 43 We said to Him, "Take a handful of twigs in your hand and strike with that but do not break your oath." We found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He turned constantly to his Lord. 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 We chose them for a special [purpose] -- proclaiming the message of the Hereafter: 46 In Our sight they are among the chosen and excellent ones. 47 And remember Ismail and Al-Yasha and Zulkifl; and they were all of the best. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein. 51 ۞ And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. 52 This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun - the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning! 53 Truly such will be Our Bounty (to you); it will never fail;- 54 However, the rebellious ones will have the worst place to return. 55 Hell; they shall enter it, so evil is the resting-place. 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 and other torments of the like kind coupled together. 58 Here is a multitude rushing headlong with you. There is no welcome for them. They will roast in the fire. 59 They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement." 60 They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire! 61 And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or is it that [they are here, and] our eyes have missed them?" 63 Such, behold, will in truth be the [confusion and] mutual wrangling of the people of the fire! 64
