Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
