Nay, by the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
