The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
