Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
