The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
