The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
