The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a great day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
