Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
