The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
