Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
