The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 for a great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
