By no means! By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the sinners. 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
