The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
