And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority 96 to Pharaoh and his nobles. But they followed the command of Pharaoh and the command of Pharaoh was not rightly directed. 97 He shall lead his people on the resurrection day, and bring them down to the fire; and evil the place to which they are brought. 98 And they are followed by a curse in this (life) and on the Day of Judgment: and woeful is the gift which shall be given (unto them)! 99 We relate to you such accounts of earlier towns: some of them are still standing; while others have ceased to exist; 100 for, no wrong did We do to them, but it was they who wronged themselves. And when thy Sustainer's judgment came to pass, those deities of theirs which they had been wont to invoke instead of God proved of no avail whatever to them, and brought them no more than utter perdition. 101 And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe. 102 In this there is, certainly, a lesson for those who fear the torment of the next life in which all people will be gathered together 103 We shall not postpone it except until a counted term. 104 The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. 105 As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling. 106 so long as the heavens and earth abide, save as thy Lord will; surely thy Lord accomplishes what He desires. 107 ۞ Those who are blessed shall abide in the Garden; they will dwell therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Such bounty shall be unending. 108 So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these (folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated. 109
