And indeed Nooh prayed to Us – so what an excellent Acceptor of Prayer We are! 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: 78 Peace be with Noah among all men in the worlds. 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). 82 ۞ And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds' 87 He looked up at the stars. 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. 93 And (his people) came toward him, hastening. 94 He said, "How can you worship what you yourselves have carved 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son.” 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 and when he was old enough to go about and work with him, (one day) Abraham said to him: “My son, I see in my dream that I am slaughtering you. So consider (and tell me) what you think.” He said: “Do as you are bidden. You will find me, if Allah so wills, among the steadfast.” 102 When both surrendered (to Allah's command) and Abraham flung the son down on his forehead, 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 That is how We recompense the righteous: 110 Verily he was one of Our believing bondmen. 111 And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
